Talk about making an instant impact! March 22, 2015 saw one of the fastest red cards in Premier League history as Steven Gerrard saw red against arch rivals Manchester United after just 38 seconds.

In what was to be the Liverpool skipper's final game against his side's fierce rivals before a summer move lớn LA Galaxy, Gerrard simply could not contain himself after being left on the bench by Brendan Rodgers.

It was the season after Liverpool almost won the league under Rodgers, and with 34-year-old Gerrard not getting any younger, he was named on the bench for the second straight game.

Decisions like this were to eventually lead to Gerrard leaving the club, not willing to be a bit-part player after being the lynchpin at Anfield for so long.

Mata scored again as the Red Devils won 2-1 despite Daniel Sturridge pulling one back for ten-man Liverpool, leaving Gerrard crestfallen and apologetic after the final whistle.

"I have let my team-mates and manager down today, even more importantly I let all the supporters down and I take full responsibility for my action," said Gerrard.

The incident kind of summed up what was a disappointing end lớn his Liverpool career, as Gerrard won just one of his last six games and lost their FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa and his final match at Anfield against Crystal Palace.
